Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Samantha Perillo totaled 44 digs including the 2,000 for her career as the Mustangs posted a straight-set win over Franklin & Marshall and a four-set victory over St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (9-1) are 46-4 in five seasons in Owings Mills Gymnasium and have not dropped a home match since Sept. 21, 2011. In three seasons since then, Stevenson has dropped just two sets at home.
In game one versus the Diplomats (7-3), Perillo totaled 23 digs, six assist and three service aces. Meanwhile, freshman Lauren Weaver totaled a game-high 10 kills while classmate Megan Hren totaled a career-high three service aces.
Franklin & Marshall had five different players total at least five kills, including Jaclyn Laforgia who totaled six kills and 10 digs. Alyssa Sanchez finished with a team-high 11 digs.
For just the second time this season the Mustangs finished with a hitting percentage of .300 or higher. Senior Megan Miller and sophomore Kelsey Stave combined for 11 kills and a .454 hitting percentage. The duo also had three total blocks.
Against the Seahawks (4-4), sophomore Jackie Zeppa totaled a season-high 10 kills while Weaver and sophomore Kristen Brooks each totaled 11. Brooks and Weaver have totaled double digit kills in six and four matches this year, respectively.
Sophomore Sara Bollinger totaled 46 assists, six shy of her career high set earlier this season. She also added five digs and a block assist.
Perillo, the school leader in digs, added 21 and now has 2,028 for her career. She is currently averaging 21 digs per match. Perillo also added four service aces and now ranks sixth all-time with 166.
Carissa Hill led St. Mary's (Md.) with 28 digs while Autumn Fisher totaled 10 kills. The Seahawks totaled a .082 hitting percentage.
The Mustangs return to action on Tuesday, September 16 when they host a Commonwealth Conference contest versus Albright beginning at 7:00 p.m.
