Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. - Led by 31 combined points by seniors Stefon McCray and Alfonzo Hawkins, the Stevenson men's basketball team claimed a share of the regular season conference title with an 89-73 Commonwealth Conference victory over Lebanon Valley Saturday at LVC Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (18-7, 13-5 MAC), who are ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, have a share of the regular season Commonwealth Conference title and earn the top seed virtue of an Alvernia victory over Messiah. All three teams finished with a 13-5 conference record, but the Mustangs swept the Falcons and split with the Crusader to earn the tie breaker.
Stevenson is also two wins shy of tying the school record for wins in a season with 20 set by both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 team. Those years also mark the last time the Mustangs won a regular season conference championship and conference tournament championship.
The Dutchmen (9-16, 7-11 MAC) led 16-14 with 12:19 remaining in the first half, however a four-point play by Hawkins gave Stevenson a two-point lead, one it would not relinquish.
Stevenson scored 11 of the first 13 points of the second half to push their lead to 18. The Mustangs would lead by as many as 21 at 82-61 following a three-pointer by junior Colby Giacubeno. Giacubeno has totaled 42 made three-pointers this season which ranks 10th all-time.
The Mustangs had six players score in double figures as sophomore Christian Roberts added 12 points, Giacubeno and freshman Darius Walker with 11 apiece and sophomore Erik Fisher with 10.
Lebanon Valley was led by Kevin Agnew who led all scorers with 37 points while Joey Giangiobbe grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Stevenson will return to action on Wednesday, February 26 when they host the winner of fourth-seeded Hood versus fifth-seeded Albright. Game time is TBA. The Mustangs split the two regular season games with both the Blazers and the Lions.
