Box Score

REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Megan Alexander scored two goals, but the Mustangs were 0-for-7 on the power play as they concluded the season with a 4-2 loss to the University of New England Sunday at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

Stevenson (8-16-1) finished the season with eight wins, two more than its inaugural season a year ago. The team also went 3-4-1 at home after going 0-7-1 last season.

The Nor'easters opened the scoring just 4:19 into the first period when leading scorer Jennie Poulin netted her 12th of the season.

Alexander answered at 10:17, assisted by sophomore Molly O'Neil, tying the game at 1-1 before Amy Curry scored on the power play with just five seconds remaining in the period to give UNE a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.

The Nor'easters (8-11-4) would add two second period goals just 2:01 apart to increase their lead to 4-1, the first of which came from Gabby Crugnate on the power play at 7:37. Emily Corrales added the second at 9:38. Cassandra Connolly picked up an assist on both.

Saturday marked the 12th time this season that Stevenson allowed at least four goals. The Mustangs were 0-12 in those games and 8-4-1 in games where they allowed three or less.

Alexander added her second goal of the game and eighth of the season at 10:59 of the third period off assists from O'Neil and sophomore McKenzie Taggart. The trio of Alexander, O'Neil and Taggart combined for 68 points this season while scoring 30 of the team's 58 goals.

Sophomores Sarah Modzelewski and Mackenzie Bruch combined for 27 saves as Stevenson was outshot, 31-27 and 17-8 in the second period.

The Mustangs, who committed nine penalties on Sunday, finished the year with 441 penalty minutes, the seventh-most in Division III history.
