READING, Pa. - Led by a game-high 15 points from junior Kayleigh Guzek, the Stevenson women's basketball team posted a 58-52 road victory over Commonwealth Conference opponent Alvernia Saturday at Jack McCloskey Court.

The Mustangs (11-8, 9-3 MAC) posted their third-straight win and sixth in their last eight games. With the win, the team also posted the most wins since the 2006-07 team who finished the year at 19-10.

A layup by Kaitlyn Yoh gave the Crusaders (6-13, 2-10 MAC) their largest lead of the game at three with 10:35 remaining in the first half, but Stevenson used a 15-1 run to take an 11 point lead, one it would not relinquish.

Junior Kyarra Harmon gave the Mustangs their largest lead at 12 with 13:02 remaining in the second half, before Alvernia cut the lead to three with just 1:33 remaining.

Stevenson however, converted on five of its six free throws, including four-straight by Guzek, in the last 30 seconds to hold off the Crusaders.

Guzek, who made 7-of-8 free throws, finished one-point shy of her career-high set on Dec. 3, 2011.

Junior Ty Bender finished with 14 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists while Harmon totaled 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.

Alvernia was led by Yoh who totaled 15 points and Tyra Roberts who recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, February 5 when it travels to face Widener in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Pride defeated the Mustangs 67-63 on Jan. 4.
