| Box Score 2

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's ice hockey junior Katie Abbott continued her record-setting season by scoring her sixth goal of the year in the second period, but the Mustangs could not overcome a three-goal deficit as they fell to Hamline at Reisterstown Sportsplex Saturday, 7-1.

The loss snapped a school-record five-game win streak for Stevenson (7-3) who trailed just 1-0 after the first period.

Chelsea Koehn led the Pipers (1-6-1) to their first win of the season by totaling two goals and two assists. She scored two of the team's first three tallies as Hamline jumped out to a 3-0 second-period lead after back-to-back goals just 1:10 apart from Koehn and Megan Gjere.

Abbott got the Mustangs on the board at the 17:54 mark of the second with an unassisted tally to cut their deficit to two while junior Sarah Modzelewski stopped 20 shots through as Stevenson trailed just 3-1 at the second intermission.

Abbott moved into second on the team with her sixth goal of the year, equaling her total from her first two seasons combined.

However, led by two assists from Koehn and two goals in the first 4:23, the Pipers scored four third-period goals to distance themselves and hand the Mustangs their worst margin of defeat in school history. They entered the game with nation's 10th-best scoring offense and ninth-ranked scoring defense.

It was just the third time in 57 career games that Stevenson allowed st least seven goals.

Modzelewski, who suffered just her second loss in six appearances this season, was replaced by junior Anastassia Nelson for the game's final 15:37 after stopping 21 of the 26 shots she faced.

The Mustangs were outshot 29-15, but committed just one penalty and won 29-of-49 faceoffs.

Jaci Reinke had one goal and one assist for the Pipers while Kasey Marquardt had two assists. Mary Shefveland made 14 saves.

The two teams conclude their season series at Reisterstown Sportsplex on Sunday at noon.
