Mustangs Total Program Record Seven Goals In 7-1 Victory Over SUNY Canton

| Box Score 2

CANTON, N.Y. - Led by two goals from each junior Madison Lange and freshman Chelsea Blackburn, the Stevenson women's ice hockey team posted a program-record seven goals en route to a 7-1 victory over SUNY Canton Saturday afternoon at the Roos House.

The Mustangs (3-2-0), who outshot SUNY Canton 39-16, now leads the all-time series 3-1 and have outscored the Kangaroos, 15-5.

Stevenson scored four first-period goals, which is tied for the most in a single period in the program's short three-year history. The Mustangs scored four goals in the third period versus Sacred Heart a season ago on November 16, 2013.

Junior Erin McLoughlin put the Mustangs on the board just 4:12 into the game with her first goal of the season on an assist from freshman Monica Pozuc, the first of her career. However, the Kangaroos (1-5-0) would win the ensuing faceoff and tie the game at 1-1 just 10 seconds later on a goal by Grace Lyon.

Stevenson went on to score three goals in a 2:42 span as junior Brooke Webber, Blackburn and Lange all found the back of the net, the latter on the power play. Freshman Savannah Sommers picked up her first career point with an assist on Webber's goal while juniors Megan Alexander and Katie Abbott both tallied an assist on the third and fourth goals, respectively.

Junior Tori Emoff scored the lone goal of the second period with an unassisted tally. The defensive captain has totaled two goals this season after totaling just one in her first two years.

The Mustangs would score two early power play goals in the third period by Blackburn and Lange. Junior Rachel Martell would pick up Stevenson's fifth assist of the day on Blackburn's tally.

Stevenson finished 3-for-7 on the power play while its penalty kill held SUNY Canton scoreless on three extra-man opportunities. After leading all of Division III in penalty minutes a season ago, the Mustangs are averaging just 6.4 penalty minutes per game.

Making her second start in net this season, junior Anastassia Nelson totaled 15 saves for her first win of the year.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, November 28 when the Mustangs host Nichols beginning at 5:30 p.m.
