Mustangs Fail To Convert on 40 Shots, Fall to SUNY Canton, 2-0

| Box Score 2

CANTON, N.Y. - Led by 40 saves by goalkeeper Rebecca DiNardo and a third period goal by Grace Lyon, host SUNY Canton held on for a 2-0 victory over the Stevenson women's ice hockey team Friday evening at the Roos House.

The Mustangs (2-2-0) outshot SUNY Canton 40-17, including 12-3 in the third period, but Stevenson failed to find the back of the net for the second time this season.

After two scoreless periods, the Kanagaroos (1-4-0) scored the game-winner 7:37 into the third period on a goal by Lyon. The Mustangs totaled seven shots following the go-ahead goal but DiNardo would deny any from finding the back of the net.

Junior Sarah Modzelewski, who made her third-straight start, was pulled with 28 seconds remaining for an extra skater, but SUNY Canton was able to gain control of the puck and add an insurance goal with an empty net tally by Lora Ardoin. Modzelewski finished with 15 saves.

Stevenson's penalty kill allowed zero goals, on four Kangaroo power plays, for the third time this season. The Mustangs have allowed just two power play goals on 14 opportunities.

The Mustangs will try to even the season series at 1-1 when Stevenson and SUNY Canton face off tomorrow, November 22 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
