Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's volleyball team dropped just its second match this season versus No. 19 Eastern 25-19, 16-25, 21-25, 22-25 before rallying for straight-set win over Wilkes, 25-17, 25-8, 25-15, Saturday afternoon in the MAC Crossover at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The loss versus the Eagles snapped a 37-game winning home streak for the Mustangs (17-2) who hadn't lost a home match since Sept. 21, 2011. It also snapped a 15-game win streak Stevenson had this season.
The trio of sophomore Kristen Brooks and freshmen Annika Schwartz and Lauren Weaver totaled 26 of the team's 40 kills versus Eastern (13-3). Brooks and Schwartz also combined for 31 digs.
For the 10th time in her career, senior Samantha Perillo totaled at least 30 digs as she finished with a match-high 33. Sophomore Sara Bollinger finished with 16 digs, one shy of her career-high. Bollinger also totaled 33 assists.
The Eagles had four players total at least 13 digs, including Rylie Haas who finished with 29.
The win over Wilkes (8-10) was the 11th straight-set victory for the Mustangs this season. Brooks and Weaver led the way with eight kills apiece. The Colonels totaled just 17 kills as a team.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 11 when the Mustangs host a non-conference tri-match with Gettysburg and Stevens beginning at 12:00 p.m.
