Box Score SALEM, Va. - Stevenson women's basketball freshman Danielle Fieni scored a career-high nine points on three three-pointers, but the Mustangs shot a season low 28.1 percent from the field in a 68-46 non-conference loss to Roanoke Sunday at C. Homer Bast Center.
Stevenson (5-6) dropped back-to-back games for the first time since starting the season 0-3. The Mustangs finished their non-conference schedule at 2-5.
The Maroons (4-7) never trailed in the game as they jumped out to 12-4 lead five minutes into the game.
A layup by Paxton Gwin at the 12:50 mark of the first half gave Roanoke a double digit lead, one that it would never relinquish. Gwin finished with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting while also grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
Fieni and junior Kyarra Harmon each finished with a team-high nine points. Harmon also finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
Roanoke, who shot 41.1 percent from the field, outrebounded the Mustangs, 46-39.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, January 8 when they travel to Albright for a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m. Last season, the Mustangs and Lions split their two games with each team winning at home.
