Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - For the second-straight day, the Stevenson women's ice hockey team fell behind 3-0 before mounting a rally, but unlike Thursday, could not get the equalizer as Neumann held on for a 3-2 victory Friday at Clark Athletic Center in the seventh annual Codfish Bowl hosted by UMass Boston.
The Mustangs (3-9-1) remained winless on the road this season, falling to 0-9, including 0-1 in neutral site contests. Five of the team's nine losses this season have come by two goals or less.
Stevenson also fell to 0-4 versus Neumann, having been outscored 14-4 in those contests.
Sophomore Megan Donahue was named to the All-Tournament Team after scoring two goals and winning 10 of 23 faceoffs. She also finished with an even plus/minus rating.
The Knights (3-9) jumped out to a 3-0 lead following Edie Brenning's second goal of the game at the 18:02 mark of the second period.
However, the Mustangs would get on the board just 44 seconds later when sophomore Molly O'Neil scored her sixth goal of the season on the power play off assists from sophomores McKenzie Taggart and Brooke Webber.
Stevenson has now registered a power play goal in 11 of its 13 games this season, totaling 14 for a 22.6 percent success rate.
The Mustangs would pull within one at the 10:16 mark of the third period when sophomore Megan Alexander scored off assists from Taggart and sophomore Madison Lange. For Lange, she extended her point streak to four games with her 10th career assist, the second most in program history behind O'Neil's 14.
Julia Fair would not let Stevenson get any closer as she stopped 34 of 36 shots to earn her second win in four decisions this season. Each team totaled 36 shots apiece with Mustang sophomore Sarah Modzelewski making 33 saves.
Strevenson returns home to face Manhattanville on Tuesday at Reisterstown Sportsplex beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Valiants have been ranked as high as No. 9 in the USCHO Division III poll this season and have been ranked or receiving votes in seven of the eight polls released.
