Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball juniors Kyarra Harmon and Kayla Kelly combined for 25 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, six steals and two blocks as the Mustangs defeated Commonwealth Conference opponent Arcadia 62-42 Saturday at Owings Mills Gymansium.
In the win, the Mustangs (9-8, 7-3 MAC) dished out 18 assists, one shy of their season-high set on Dec. 17, 2013 in a win versus Salem Int'l.
Both teams struggled early as they combined to go 4-for-17 from the floor. The score was tied at four until Stevenson junior Ty Bender scored a layup and got the foul with 13:11 left in the first half.
After back-to-back offensive rebounds by sophomore Caitlin Roy, the Mustangs isolated Kelly who made a jumper in the lane to push the teams lead to 10 with 13 seconds remaining in the first half.
However, Maureen Fiocca went the length of the court with to cut Arcadia's deficit to 25-17 at the break.
Stevenson would double its lead in the second half and lead by as many as 28 on a jumper by sophomore Mattie Milchling.
Roy finished with a game-high 11 rebounds while also adding seven points, two assists, one steal and one block.
Arcadia (8-9, 2-9) was led by Fiocca who finished with 11 points and Victoria Mazzeo who grabbed 11 rebounds. The Knights outrebounded the Mustangs, 41-36.
The Mustangs shot 40.6 percent from the floor, the fourth time this season the team has shot at least 40.0 percent.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, January 29 when it hosts Hood in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Blazers 61-35 on Dec. 4, 2013.
