OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball senior Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) totaled 12 kills and eight digs as the Mustangs opened defense of their Commonwealth Conference championship with a 25-5, 25-16, 25-13 victory over Widener Wednesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Stevenson (5-0, 1-0 MAC) has opened the season with five consecutive victories for the second time in the last three years. The best start to a season in school history is 15-0 set back in 2008 when the team went 32-8.

The Mustangs have also won 10-straight games since joining the Commonwealth Conference.

Isenberg finished two digs shy of her 24th career game with at least 10 kills and 10 digs. Her .370 hitting percentage was a season-high.

Reigning Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, sophomore Imani Hudson (Burke, Va./Thomas Edison), also totaled 12 kills while freshman Kelsey Stave (Bear, Del./St. Mark's) had a career-high six. Freshman Kristen Brooks (Wilmington, Del./Concord) also had a career-high in kills with five.

Defensively, junior Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) totaled a game-high 21 digs, marking her second game this season in which she has had at least 20. Senior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) added seven digs to go along with a season-high 40 assists.

Veronica Vizzard and Kaitlin Schnalzer each led the Pride (2-3, 0-1 MAC) with three kills while Sabrina Barbieri added nine digs and seven assists.

Stevenson travels across town to Johns Hopkins for the Greg Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The Mustangs play Cabrini on Friday at noon before facing Gwynedd-Mercy at 2:00 p.m.
