Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Led by senior Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and freshman Kristen Brooks (Wilmington, Del./Concord), the Stevenson women's volleyball team ran its win streak to 17-straight with non-conference victories over Shenandoah and Susquehanna Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (17-0), who have now won 26 consecutive games at home, defeated Shenandoah 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 before dispatching Susquehanna 25-14, 25-17, 25-12.
Stevenson's last home loss came back on Sept. 21, 2011 when the team fell in four sets to former Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury, 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25. During its current 26-game home winning streak, the Mustangs have won 78 out of 84 sets while posting 22 victories in straight sets.
Stevenson is now three wins shy of the school record for consecutive wins set a year ago when the team won 20-straight from Sept. 28 to Nov. 9, 2012.
Against the Hornets (6-7), Isenberg totaled a game-high 13 kills to go along with five digs. Brooks added nine kills while sophomore Imani Hudson (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) had eight kills and seven digs.
The Mustangs posted a .223 hitting percentage while limiting Shenandoah to a minus-.011 percentage. Stevenson also totaled 57 digs, 20 of which came from junior Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends). Senior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) added 10 digs while posting four kills and 26 assists.
Freshman Sara Bollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) totaled a career-high 13 assists.
Brooks added 13 kills versus Susquehanna (13-3) and boasted a .346 hitting percentage. Hudson had eight kills and 10 digs while freshman Kelsey Stave (Bear, Del./St. Mark's) totaled seven kills and four blocks.
Isenberg had 16 digs, two shy of her season-high, and Perillo added 22 more.
Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts crosstown rival Johns Hopkins at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Blue Jays earlier this season to win the championship of the Greg Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament on September 8, 25-10, 26-24, 25-16.
Since 2011, Stevenson is 3-1 against Johns Hopkins and has won the last two. The Mustangs won last year's meeting at Owings Mills Gymnasium 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 on Sept. 25, 2012.
