Box Score GLASSBORO, N.J. - Led by two goals from junior Caitlin Dempsey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) the Stevenson field hockey team dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 5-3 loss to No. 22 Rowan Thursday.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game, the Mustangs (5-3) scored three-straight goals in a span of 7:40.
Dempsey started the scoring tying the game at 1-1 on an assist from senior Alison Kagel (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township). Less than three minutes later, Dempsey scored her team-leading seventh goal to give Stevenson the lead.
Sophomore Amy Tamarana (Toms River, N.J./Toms River) scored the final of the Mustangs three goals on an assist from senior Alyssa Russell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven). It was Russell's first point of the season and she now has five career points from her defensive position.
Kellie Campbell scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to cut the deficit for the Profs (3-2) to just one at the half.
After a nearly statistically even first half, Rowan outshot Stevenson 10-1 in the second while also outscoring the Mustangs, 3-0.
Sophomore Katie Cavanaugh (Parkville, Md./Perry Hall) finished with four saves in the first half while freshman Gabriella Brooks (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) had five.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday when they travel to face St. Mary's (Md.) in a non-conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
