SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Stevenson women's volleyball junior Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) broke the schools career dig record as the Mustangs picked up two victories over Vassar and Swarthmore Saturday at the Garnet Classic.
The Mustangs (12-0) swept Vassar 25-19, 25-9, 25-13 before defeating host Swarthmore 20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-8.
The team is unbeaten this season, having only dopped one set. Dating back to September 28 of last season, the Mustangs have won 32 of their last 33 matches, dropping only seven sets along the way.
In game one against the Brewers (4-4), junior Megan Miller (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) finished with a game high nine kills while freshman Kristen Brooks (Wilmington, Del./Concord) had eight.
Perillo finished with 14 digs putting her three shy of tying the school record.
Against the Garnet (8-2), Stevenson finished with a season-high 60 kills with four players in double digits. Senior Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) led all players with 15 while also adding 18 digs. Brooks tied her career high with 11 kills.
With her fourth dig in the match, Perillo become the new career digs leader passing Julie Olsen who finished her career with 1,328. Perillo totaled a season-high 35 digs in the match, finishing the day with 49 digs to put her career total at 1,360.
Senior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mills) finished the match with a season-high 43 assists.
Stevenson wraps up the Garnet Classic hosted by Swarthmore on Sunday when they face Hamilton beginning at 10:00 a.m.
