Box Score ASTON, Pa. - Stevenson women's ice hockey freshman Rachel Martell (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead High School) ended Neumann's shutout bid at 13:09 in the third period as the Mustangs fell to the Knights 4-1 Sunday at the IceWorks Skating Complex.
Martell's 5-on-3 power play goal was assisted by freshmen Kristen Webber (West Lebanon, N.H./Kimball Union Academy) and Madison Lange (Califon, N.J./New Jersey Rockets).
Neumann (7-13-1) scored first just 32 seconds into the game on a goal by Shanelle Doucette from Edie Brenning. Brenning then notched the game-winner, her team-leading eighth goal, 3:15 into the second.
Stevenson (6-11-1) continues to struggle on the power play going 1-for-7. Over the last four games the Mustangs are 2-for-15 while going 8-for-77 on the season.
It was a physical game where both teams were whistled for a combined 17 penalties and 45 penalty minutes.
Freshman Mackenzie Bruch (Hiram, Ga./Boston Shamrocks) in her ninth start of the season made a career-high 40 saves.
Stevenson concludes their inaugural season with a four-game homestand at Reisterstown SportsPlex. Saturday's game time versus Connecticut College is 5:30 p.m. and will be televised on MPT2 over-the-air on Channel 67.2, Comcast 268 and Verizon Fios 480.
