NEW LONDON, Conn. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Madison Lange scored her third goal of the season in the third period, short-handed, but Connecticut College scored four third-period goals, including two with the empty net to post a 5-1 victory Friday at Dayton Arena.

The Mustangs (3-6-1) dropped their fifth-straight game and are still looking for their first win away from Reisterstown Sportsplex.

Lange's goal, assisted by sophomore Liana Vazquez, was the third short-handed tally for Stevenson this season. Of the team's 26 goals, 14 have come on special teams, including 11 on the power play. For Vazquez, it was her first point of the season and the second of her career.

Sophomore Sarah Modzelewski stopped 28 of 31 shots she faced, but fell to 2-3 on the season.

After a scorless first period, Cassie Hunter scored just 37 seconds into the second to put the Camels in front 1-0. That would be the only goal of the period as neither team could capitalize on the power play as both were 0-for-5 through two periods.

Connecticut (3-2-2) added two goals just three minutes apart in the third period, the last of which came on the power play, increasing its lead to 3-0.

Lange scored at 8:55 of the third to pull Stevenson within two, but the Mustangs could not get any closer, finishing the period 0-for-3 on the power play and 0-for-7 for the game. Stevenson entered the game with 11 power play goals on 51 attempts for 21.6 percent.

The Camels outshot the Mustangs 33-17, including 21-7 over the first two periods.

The two teams wrap-up their two-game series on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
