FREDERICK, Md. – Led by a game-high 13 points from junior Kyarra Harmon, the Stevenson women's basketball team won its third-straight game with a Commonwealth Conference victory over Hood 61-35 Wednesday at BB&T Arena.

With the win, the Mustangs (3-3, 2-0 MAC) tied the all-time series against Hood at 11 and have now won five out of the last six including four straight on the road.

Stevenson's defense got things started, causing nine turnovers in the first six minutes and 22 in the first half.

A three-pointer by sophomore Stephanie Martinez pushed the Mustangs' lead to 14-2 with 9:31 remaining in the first half. Followed by a Jessy Burke layup, Stevenson went on a 13-4 run to lead 27-8 at the half. 

The Mustangs held the Blazers (1-3, 0-1 MAC) to just eight first-half points, the first time since Feb. 1, 2012 the team has held an opponent to single digits in the first half.

Junior Kayla Kelly sparked a 13-0 run to open the second half scoring five-straight points. Fellow junior Abbey DeFeo made back-to-back three-pointers in a 44-second span off the bench to push the lead to 47-15 with 10:40 remaining. DeFeo finished with six points, two steals, two blocks and one assist.

The Mustangs bench scored 39 of the teams 61 points.

Junior Ty Bender finished with four points, four steals, three rebounds, three assists and one block. Harmon finished with a team-high nine rebounds.

Stevenson forced a season-best 34 turnovers leading to 21 points but were outrebounded 48-44.

Hood was led by Brittney George who had a team-high 12 points and Rachel Wiley who had a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, December 7 when they travel to face conference opponent Arcadia beginning at 1:00 p.m.
