Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson field hockey junior Caitlin Dempsey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) scored her team leading 18th goal, but two late tallies from Lebanon Valley gave the host Dutchmen the 3-2 victory in the Commonwealth Conference quarterfinals Monday at Arnold Field.
With the win, the Dutchmen (10-9) advances to the Commonwealth Conference semifinals where they will travel to face top-seeded Elizabethtown.
Lebanon Valley took the early lead off a penalty corner just 7:44 into the game by leading scorer Lauren Brumbach.
The Mustangs (10-10) would tie the game at one on a goal by Dempsey from junior Ariella Hopp (Jarrettsville, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) before senior Allyson Moody (New Windsor, Md./Westminster) gave Stevenson a 2-1 lead midway through the second half on an assist from senior Alyssa Russell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven).
With just under four minutes remaining, the Dutchmen would tie the game before scoring the game-winning goal with 1:54 left in the game.
Freshman Gabriella Brooks (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) totaled 10 saves while her counterpart Chloe Baro had nine.
The game was nearly statistically even with both teams finishing with 16 shots and Stevenson holding a slight 10-8 advantage in penalty corners.
The Mustangs, whose 10 wins ties the school record, will await selections for the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Field Hockey Championship which will be announced on Monday, November 11 at 5:00 p.m.
