Katie Abbott Scores Lone Goal, Mustangs Fall on Road to Franklin Pierce

Box Score

WINCHENDON, Mass. - Stevenson women's ice hockey sophomore Katie Abbott scored a short-handed goal but two first period goals and two power play goals in the third gave host, Division II Franklin Pierce, a 4-1 victory Friday at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

The goal was the Mustangs (3-2-1) second short-handed of the season as the team dropped their fourth consecutive road game dating back to February 2 of last season.

Abbott scored for the second time in as many games with a wrist shot to the top right corner on a 2-on-1 after a Ravens turnover. After not registering a point in the first four games of the season, Abbott now has three in the last two.

Sophomore Erin McLoughlin also picked up a point for the second straight game with an assist.

Franklin Pierce (4-1) scored two late goals in the first period, the game-winner by leading-scorer Francesca Paciello after a long outlet pass by Jamie Wiley that set up Paciello one-on-one.

Stevenson was outshot for the first time this season 38-16, a season-low. The Mustangs also had a season-high 40 penalty minutes while going 0-for-6 on the man advantage.

Sophomore Mackenzie Bruch totaled 34 saves while Shannon O'Neil had 15.

Stevenson and the Ravens conclude their two-game series on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
