Box Score LANGHORNE, Pa. - Stevenson men's basketball junior Justin Kuntz scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half as the Mustangs posted a 89-69 season-opening road victory Saturday at Mason Activity Center.
Stevenson (1-0) scored 49 first half points while picking up its second-straight season-opening win and second in three years under head coach Gary Stewart.
Kuntz was 5-for-6 from the floor in the opening half while scoring 10 points in just 12 minutes of action. As a team, the Mustangs shot 62.5 percent from the floor and was 3-of-5 from three-point range.
Stevenson jumped out to a 19-0 lead and did not surrender a point until the 12:01 mark. The team held the Highlanders (0-1) to a 20.8 shooting percentage while closing out the half on a 17-7 run.
Three Mustangs finished the game in double figures as senior Kelly Davis and junior Colby Giacubeno totaled 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Kuntz finished 7-for-9 from the field while also grabbing seven rebounds. Senior Stefon McCray totaled a game-high 10 rebounds while sophomore Tyrus Costly and freshman Darius Walker each dished out four assists.
The Mustangs, who had 13 different players total a point, shot 58.2 percent from the floor and scored 51 points off the bench. They also outrebounded the Highlanders, 42-22.
Cairn was led by Justin Lewis and Obed Rivera who combined for 29 points.
The Mustangs return to action on Friday, November 22 in the second-annual Hoopsville Classic when they host Middlebury beginning at 6:00 p.m.
