Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Lebanon Valley, who held an 20-6 advantage in shots, got six points from Lauren Brumbach who totaled all three goals for the Dutchmen who posted a 3-2 victory over the Stevenson field hockey team Saturday night at Mustang Stadium.
Stevenson (7-6, 1-1 MAC), who is just three wins shy of the school record for a single-season, suffered its first conference loss of the season and is now 2-2 at home.
Junior Caitlin Dempsey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) finished with three points with a goal and an assist, raising her season totals to 11 goals and 27 points. She has now scored a goal in eight of the team's 11 games.
Brumbach scored her first goal of the game less than four minutes in to give the Dutchmen (5-6, 1-0 MAC) a quick one-goal lead before sophomore Rebecca Moreland (Parkville, Md./Mercy) redirected a Dempsey shot past the keeper almost 10 minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
Brumbach put Lebanon Valley back in front with 16:25 remaining in the first half on her first goal of the season off a feed from Lauren Grauer before Dempsey answered with her fourth multi-goal game of the season with 8:47 to play on an assist from sophomore Melissa Doering (Street, Md./North Harford).
The two teams would head to the half tied at 2-2 despite the Dutchmen holding a 13-5 advantage in shots. Mustang freshman Gabriella Brooks (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) totaled nine of her career-high 12 saves in the half. Her previous career-high was eight set in the season-opener versus Neumann.
Just like the first half, Brumbach scored less than four minutes into the second, scoring what proved to be the game-winning goal unassisted off a deflection at 31:08.
Chloe Baro made two saves for the Dutchmen who also got a defensive save from Kristen Garman.
Stevenson heads to Hood on Wednesday for a Commonwealth Conference contest with the Blazers beginning at 4:00 p.m.
