Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's volleyball junior Megan Miller (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) had a season-high 15 kills as the 20th-ranked Mustangs finished unbeaten in the Commonwealth Conference for the second-straight season with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 over Lebanon Valley Tuesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
Stevenson (30-1, 9-0 MAC) has now won 30 games in each of the last three seasons and for the fourth time in the last six. The team also extended its home winning streak to 30. The Mustangs are now 18-0 in two seasons in the Commonwealth Conference.
Tonight's victory secured Stevenson the top-seed and a bye in the first of the 2013 Commonwealth Conference Volleyball Championship which begins on Monday, November 4. The defending conference champions will host the semifinals on Wednesday, November 6 and with a win, will host the title game on Saturday, November 9.
Miller finished one kill shy of her career-high set in a 3-2 loss versus SUNY Cortland at the York College Spartan Invitational on Sept. 28, 2012. She also added five digs, one shy of her season-high, while totaling two blocks.
Miller and seniors Jenna Campbell (Brookeville, Md./Good Counsel) and Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) combined for 35 of the team's 44 kills while posting a .291 hitting percentage. Campbell and Isenberg had 10 kills apiece with Isenberg adding nine digs.
Stevenson never trailed in the first two sets before an 11-4 run in the third broke a 14-14 tie and gave the team its 26th straight sets victory of the season, including sixth consecutive. The third set featured seven ties and three lead changes.
Senior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished with 39 assists, two service aces and 11 digs while junior Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) had a match-high 19 digs.
Kayla Confer led the Dutchmen (24-5, 6-1 MAC) with 10 kills and two total blocks while Allie Garrett had 13 digs. Kacey Musselman had 19 assists and 11 digs.
The Mustangs wrap-up their regular-season home schedule on Sunday when they host a tri-match with Gettysburg and Virginia Wesleyan beginning at 11:00 a.m.
