Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball senior Sam Murray (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) scored a season-best and game-high 16 points as the Mustangs extend their home winning streak to four with a 74-59 defeat of Albright Monday night at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Stevenson (5-4, 2-4 MAC) shot 45.8 percent from the field, the second-best performance of the season and the best in conference play so far. Meanwhile, the team's eight three-pointers are the most since sinking nine versus NYU Poly at home in a 73-60 triumph on Jan. 8, 2011.

Murray's 16 points were her highest since scoring 16 at Trinity (D.C.) on Feb. 11, 2012 in a 60-51 victory. She also added four rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist on Monday.

The Mustangs spotted the Lions (6-7, 2-4 MAC) the first bucket seven seconds into the game for their only lead.

Albright would tie the game at 18-18 with 7:29 left in the first half before Stevenson went on a 12-5 run to take a 30-23 lead into the intermission.

Led by the trio Murray, sophomore Kyarra Harmon (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and freshman Ruth Casadevall (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wallenpaupack), who scored 26 of the team's 44 second-half points, Stevenson pulled away in the second half scoring 15 points off 10 Albright turnovers.

Joining Murray in double figures was Harmon with 11 points and sophomore Kayleigh Guzek (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) with 10. Sophomore Kayla Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) tied her career-high in steals with four matching her Feb. 4, 2012 performance in a 60-43 win at home versus Hood.

Freshman Caitlin Roy (Middletown, Md./Middletown) followed up her career-high seven-point performance on Saturday at Lebanon Valley with a career-high seven rebounds tonight.

Albright was paced by Tara Sabotchick with 16 points while Emily O'Donnell grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

Stevenson travels to Grantham, Pa., to face Commonwealth Conference leader and No. 7-ranked Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
