Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Stevenson men's basketball freshman Christian Roberts (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) scored a team-high 19 points, but Arcadia outscored the Mustangs 48-38 in the second half erasing an eight-point deficit for a 77-75 victory Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.
Roberts' lay-up attempt at the buzzer bounced off the back of the rim which would have forced overtime.
Today's loss for Stevenson (9-7, 3-7 MAC) marks the third of the season by three or less points, fourth by four or fewer.
Arcadia (11-6, 6-4 MAC) sweeps the season series with both games decided by one possession. On December 1, Arcadia escaped out of Owings Mills Gymnasium with a 71-68 victory when a three-point attempt by junior Stefon McCray (Milton, Fla./Archbishop Curley) also hit the back of the rim.
The Mustangs would lead by as many as 12 in the first half on a three-pointer by freshman Tyrus Costly (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances) with 2:04 to go until halftime. Costly finished with 11 points.
In a game that featured 12 ties and seven lead changes, the Knights would take the lead for the final time on a lay-up by Joseph Brown with 1:09 remaining. Arcadia held the lead for a total of 5:50 during the game while Stevenson was ahead for 27:08.
Joining Roberts and Costly in double figures was senior Tyson Jacobs (Baltimore, Md./Owings Mills) with 14 points.
Senior Brett Burrier (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) had a team-high eight rebounds to go along with seven points. Burrier is now 51 points away from 1,000 for his career.
Brown led the way for Arcadia finishing with a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, both game-highs.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday, January 23, when they travel to Commonwealth Conference rival Hood for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
