Katie Cavanaugh Makes Seven Saves in 3-0 Road Loss to Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Stevenson field hockey freshman goalkeeper Katie Cavanaugh (Parkville, Md./Perry Hall) made seven saves and kept the game scoreless for 50 minutes until Claire McAuliffe of Washington (Md.) notched her fourth game-winning goal of the season en route to a 3-0 win Tuesday night at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

McAuliffe would also score an insurance goal, her eighth of the season, 12 minutes later off a centering pass from Heather Noto.

The Shorewomen (5-4) outshot the Mustangs 22-7, including 16-4 in the second half.

Stevenson (4-5) for the fourth consecutive game allowed double-digit penalty corners, surrendering 15 to Washington (Md.) while earning only two, one in each half.

Kristen Wille, who assisted on McAuliffe's first goal, scored her fifth goal of the season, unassisted with 1:17 remaining in the game.

Shorewomen goalkeeper Stephanie Harryman made five saves in her second shutout of the season and third of her career.

Stevenson continues its three-game road trip when they face Immaculata Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
