Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Led by a total team effort, highlighted by a career-high six kills from freshman Kelly McKenzie (Nanticoke, Md./James Bennett) and a career-high 20 assists by sophomore Tara Shishmanian (Baltimore, Md./Greater Grace Christian), the Stevenson women's volleyball team won its seventh and eighth-straight matches on Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (11-1) posted a 25-10, 25-10, 25-15 victory over Rowan before defeating Cazenovia 25-9, 25-11, 25-21.
With the wins, Stevenson also extended its home winning streak to 14 consecutive games. The team is now 26-4 in three seasons at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
Against the Profs (5-5), sophomore Christine Isenberg (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and senior Avery Gabbard (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) each had 11 kills while combining to post a .432 hitting percentage. Freshman Imani Hudson (Burke, Va./Thomas Edison) added eight kills while sophomore Megan Miller (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) had six.
The quartet combined for 36 of the team's 41 kills and committed just five errors in 71 attempts for .437 hitting percentage.
Defensively, sophomore Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) had a game-high 14 digs while Isenberg totaled eight and Gabbard added seven. Junior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) had six digs to go along with 37 assists.
In the game versus the Wildcats (0-8), the Mustangs had a host of career performances. In addition to her 20 assists, Shishmanian also had a career-high nine digs while freshman Kara Anderson (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) had a career-high 13 digs. Freshman Luci Diaz (Ft. Meade, Md./Meade) also posted a career-high with four kills.
Junior Stacey Rex (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) had four kills and five digs, both season-highs, while freshman Caitlin Roy (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had a career-high three kills and two digs.
Stevenson wraps-up its three-game home stand on Tuesday when it hosts a non-conference contest versus local rival Goucher beginning at 7:00 p.m.
