OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's basketball team honored seniors Katey Briggs (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy), Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) and Daniela Poss (Brookeville, Md./Good Counsel) on Senior Night Wednesday as the Mustangs fell to York (Pa.), 73-39 at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Stevenson (9-13, 5-9 CAC) had its three-game winning streak stopped after shooting 21.1 percent from the floor and being held to 39 points, including 15 in the first half.

The Spartans jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the game's first five minutes before the Mustangs cut the deficit to five, 14-9 with 9:58 left in the first half.

However, York closed the half on a 20-6 run to take a 34-15 halftime lead after scoring 28 points in the paint. April Sparkman, the CAC's leading scorer, scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the opening half while Kristen Haley had eight and Brittan Hicks added seven.

The Spartans (19-3, 12-1 CAC) won their ninth-straight to set up a CAC first-place showdown with unbeaten and No. 8-ranked Mary Washington on Saturday.

Junior Sam Murray (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Mustangs, both team-highs, while junior Rayshell Parker (Odenton, Md./Meade) had six points and four rebounds.

Sparkman led four players in double figures for York. Hicks finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while Haley had 12 points and eight rebounds. Kelsey Murphy had 10 points and five rebounds.

Aja Wallpher, the nation's leader in assists, finished with six points, seven assists and 11 steals.

Stevenson travels to Washington, D.C., for a non-conference contest at Trinity (D.C.) on Saturday. Game time is at 2:00 p.m.
