Kyarra Harmon Posts First Career Double-Double in 73-55 Win Over Arcadia

Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball sophomore Kyarra Harmon (Waldorf, Md./North Point) recorded career-highs in points and rebounds with 16 and 14, respectively, as the Mustangs posted an impressive 73-55 victory over Arcadia Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Stevenson (3-1, 1-1 MAC) earned its first win in the Commonwealth Conference and tied the all-time series with the Knights at 2-2 after Arcadia took the first two meetings, including the first-ever game at Owings Mills Gymnasium on Nov. 15, 2010.

Harmon totaled 10 points and nine rebounds in 12 first-half minutes. She also finished with five blocks, four steals and two assists. Senior Sam Murray (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) registered her fifth career double double, and first of the season, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The last time Stevenson had two players record double doubles in the same game was on Feb. 5, 2011 at Hood when Daniela Poss had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Kristen Stenier had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-40 victory.

Harmon's 14 rebounds is the highest total by a Mustang since Steiner also had 14 in a 62-51 loss to Rutgers-Camden at home on Dec. 30, 2010.

The Knights (4-2, 0-2 MAC) got off to a fast start, leading 6-2 just 1:16 into the game. Both teams battled back-and-forth as the Mustangs forced three ties before taking the lead for good at 25-23 with 4:58 remaining in the first half on a jumper by Harmon.

Stevenson would begin the second half on an 11-2 run over the first six minutes, sparked by sophomore Kayleigh Guzek (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) who scored seven of her 11 points in the half.

Arcadia was paced by 10 points from Tamara Moskowitz and eight points and eight rebounds from Dominique Hassinger.

Stevenson travels to Alvernia on Wednesday for an 8:00 p.m., tip-off against the Knights.
