Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Salisbury held the Stevenson women's basketball team to just 5-of-26 shooting from the floor in the first half while building 15-point halftime lead en route to a 59-47 victory Wednesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (6-12, 2-8 CAC), who trailed by as many as 21 in the second half, rallied to pull within eight points with 2:34 remaining, but the Sea Gulls hit 5-of-8 free throw attempts in the final 1:26 to earn their third consecutive victory.
Junior Sam Murray (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) totaled her second-straight double double and third this season with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Seven of her points came from the free throw line where she was 7-of-8.
Stevenson led 7-6 with 10:24 to play in the opening half before a 16-1 run by Salisbury gave the Sea Gulls a 22-8 advantage with 5:11 left. They would take a 29-14 lead into halftime.
Salisbury (10-7, 7-2 CAC) led by 21 points, 50-29 with 5:30 remaining in the second half, but the Mustangs went on a 15-2 run over the next 2:56 to pull within eight, 52-44.
Senior Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) had nine points and four rebounds while freshman Kayla Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) also scored a nine points to set a new career-high.
Katie McGahagan led the Sea Gulls with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds while Anna Hacket totaled 17 points.
Stevenson travels to Frostburg State on Saturday. Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
