Box Score YORK, Pa. - Stevenson women's basketball freshman Kyarra Harmon (Waldorf, Md./North Point) scored a career-high 15 points, including 10 in the second half, while adding eight rebounds, but the Mustangs could not overcome their first half deficit as they fell to York (Pa.) Wednesday at Charles Wolf Gymnasium, 71-58.
Stevenson (6-10, 2-6 CAC) trailed 33-23 at the half after going 5-for-22 from the floor for 22.7 percent while totaling 16 turnovers. The Mustangs scored 13 of their points from the free throw line where they were 13-for-17.
Wednesday's game featured 49 fouls and 64 free throws as Stevenson was 21-for-29 while the Spartans (13-3, 7-1 CAC) were 25-for-35.
York opened the game with a 12-2 run over the first 4:59 before stretching its lead to 13 with 5:17 remaining.
However, the Mustangs cut the deficit to just four, 27-23 with 2:07 to play, before the Spartans scored the final six points over the last 1:37 to take a 10-point halftime lead.
A 15-4 run midway through the second half stretched York's lead to as many as 20 points at 58-38 with 8:42 left.
Senior Daniela Poss (Brookeville, Md./Good Counsel) and junior Rayshell Parker (Odenton, Md./Meade) each finished with nine points for Stevenson while freshman Kayleigh Guzek (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) had eight points and four assists.
Brittany Hicks had 19 points and eight rebounds, both game-highs, to lead the Spartans. April Sparkman totaled 15 points and seven rebounds and Kristen Haley had 14 points and six rebounds, including 10 points in the second half.
York's Aja Wallpher had 10 assists and eight steals.
Stevenson returns home to face St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Seahawks won the first match-up between the two teams back on December 3, 80-64.
