Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's volleyball team has yet to drop a set in six games this year as it remained undefeated after sweeping local rival Goucher Tuesday night at Owings Mills Gymnasium 25-7, 25-22, 25-9.
Sophomore Christine Isenberg (Taneytown/Francis Scott Key) led the Mustangs (6-0) with 12 kills and 16 digs to mark her second double double of the season, all of which have come in the last four contests. She also had 17 kills and 14 digs versus Catholic last Friday.
After breezing through the first set 25-7, Stevenson trailed 20-16 in the second before finishing on a 9-2 run for the three-point victory and a commanding 2-0 lead in the game. The Gophers, who committed five errors during that span, finished the game with 14 attack errors, a .025 hitting percentage and 12 reception errors.
Senior Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) had eight kills for the Mustangs while junior Kristen Lubeski (Bishopville/Stephen Decatur) added five. Lubeski helped seal the victory by registering the final two kills of the game. Freshman Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del/Wilmington Friends) contributed a game-high 19 digs.
Stevenson totaled 40 kills and 12 services aces while limiting Goucher to just 16 kills and no service aces. One of the bright spots for the Gophers (1-4) was Megan Chalk who totaled seven kills and 10 digs.
With the victory, Stevenson fifth-year head coach Dave Trumbo now has 97 career victories, leaving him just three shy of 100 for his career.
The Mustangs return to action on Thursday in a non-conference contest at McDaniel beginning at 7:00 p.m.
