Box Score 4 HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Stevenson women's volleyball team went 4-0 this past weekend winning the Eastern Mennonite Hampton Inn & Sleep Inn Invitational, sweeping Mary Baldwin, Catholic, Philadelphia Biblical and Salem. The team has yet to drop a set this season, beginning the year 5-0, the first time since 2008. That team started the season 15-0.
The Mustangs (5-0) were led by their underclassmen who totaled 95 of the teams 153 kills, 166 of the 220 digs, and 17 of the 29 blocks.
Sophomore and first-year player Christine Isenberg (Taneytown/Francis Scott Key) was named to the All-Tournament team finishing the weekend with 39 kills and 42 digs. Isenberg also recorded a double double in the second game versus Catholic with 17 kills and 14 digs.
Freshmen Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del/Wilmington Friends) and Megan Miller (Middletown/St. Georges Tech) shined for the Mustangs defensively. Perillo had 67 digs, registering at least 10 digs in each of the four games and surpassing 20 in two of them. Meanwhile, Miller finished with a team high nine blocks, including six solo.
Sophomore Jessica Gieselman (Westminster/Winters Mills) joined Isenberg on the All-Tournament Team, ending the weekend with 108 assists to go along with her 14 kills and 19 digs.
In the game versus Philadelphia Biblical, junior Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) recorded 11 of her 20 digs. That marked the 41st game in her career that she has had at least 10 digs.
Stevenson returns home on Tuesday, September 6th when they host non-conference and local rival Goucher beginning at 7 p.m.
