Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Stevenson women's volleyball team totaled 16 service aces, including a career-high four from freshman Megan Miller (Middletown, Del./St. Georges Tech) while posting a 25-11, 25-8, 25-14 victory over Washington (Md.) Thursday night at Cain Athletic Center.
The Mustangs (16-2), who remained unbeaten in four road games this season while extending their overall win streak to four, tied the 2008 team for the best start to a season in school history. That year, Stevenson also won 16 of its first 18 games en route to a school record 32 victories.
Miller totaled all four of her service aces in the first set as the Mustangs totaled six as a team during a 16-1 run. Sophomore Jessica Gieselman (Westminster/Winters Mills) added two service aces in the first set to go along with her game-high 22 assists.
The strong attack continued in the second set as Stevenson ended on an 18-2 run which included 10-straight points on the serve of senior Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) who tied a season-high with four service aces.
Freshman Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) finished the second set with two service aces while totaling a game-high 17 digs on the night. She has now totaled at least 17 digs in five consecutive games.
The third set ended once again on the serve of the Mustangs as junior Kristen Lubeski (Bishopville/Stephen Decatur) closed out the game with the team's 16th service ace.
The Shorewomen (7-7) were led by both Lauren Bell and Jenny Lee who had six kills each.
Stevenson returns home to face defending CAC Champion Frostburg State on Tuesday, October 4 at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Last season, the Bobcats swept the Mustangs in three close sets, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.
