GLASSBORO, N.J. - Stevenson field hockey freshman Ariella Hopp (Jarrettsville/Institute of Notre Dame) scored the team's lone goal just 42 seconds into the game to give the Mustangs an early lead on the road at No. 7 Rowan, but the Profs scored five-straight to end the first half en route to an 8-1 victory Saturday.

The game marked the second top-10 opponent in the last five for the Mustangs (3-6) who face No. 1 Salisbury at home on Wednesday.

The goal was the third of the season for Hopp who scored off a feed from sophomore Leigh Willing (Princess Anne/Holly Grove Christian) who picked up her team-leading fifth assist of the season on the play.

Led by four goals and nine points from leading scorer Rachel Dix, Rowan (7-2) won its fifth-straight game thanks to five consecutive goals over the next 21 minutes that gave the Profs a 5-1 halftime lead.

Dix had a hand in three of the goals with two tallies and one assist while Julie Cairone had one goal and one assist in the half, including the game-tying tally just 1:07 after Hopp put Stevenson in front.

Dix opened the second half with two back-to-back goals before Kayla Bruhn capped the scoring with a goal at 68:27.

Junior Kelsi Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) finished with a career-high 13 saves for the Mustangs while her counterpart Jen Goldberg totaled two for Rowan.

The Profs held a 30-5 margin in shots and a 14-4 edge in penalty corners.

Stevenson welcomes No. 1 Salisbury on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m., contest at Mustang Stadium.
