Box Score YORK, Pa. - York (Pa.) used a 30-11 run over the final 18 minutes of the first half to take an 18-point halftime lead en route to a 63-43 victory over Stevenson in a CAC women's basketball contest Wednesday at the Grumbacher Center.
Senior JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) scored 10 points to lead the Mustangs (3-19, 2-12 CAC) who had its two-game road win streak snapped.
Stevenson led 8-7 on a lay-up by sophomore Sam Murray (Reisterstown/St. Paul's) with 17:52 remaining in the first half. Murray scored five of the team's first eight points while Conley added a three-pointer as the Mustangs made three of their first six shots, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.
However, the team would make just 2-of-13 over the final 17-plus minutes while committing 11 turnovers as the Spartans (12-10, 9-4 CAC) shot 51.7 percent from the floor and took a 37-19 halftime lead.
Kelsey Murphy led York with 12 first half points, all coming on four three-pointers as she was 4-for-5 from behind the arc. Jamie Sapp added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and the two combined for 22 points on 8-of-11 from the floor while the rest of the team was 7-for-18 for 15 points.
Murray finished with nine points and three steals for the Mustangs while senior Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) had three points and a game-high nine rebounds to go along with two blocks and two steals. Senior Meliasa Robinson (Fort Washington/Potomac) totaled eight points and four rebounds, both season-highs.
Sapp had 14 points to lead York and Murphy finished with 12. Brittany Hicks had 13 points and a team-high five rebounds.
Stevenson looks to snap a four-game losing streak at home on Saturday when it hosts Trinity (D.C.) at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
