Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Stevenson women's basketball junior Rayshell Parker (Odenton/Meade) scored a career-high 18 points and totaled her fourth career double double with 12 rebounds as the Mustangs posted a 65-42 victory at Arcadia in their first game under head coach Jackie Boswell Tuesday at Kuch Recreation and Athletic Center.
Stevenson (1-0) avenged a 56-45 loss to the Knights in its season opener a year ago in the team's inaugural game at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
For Boswell, a 1995 graduate of Division III Virginia Wesleyan, it was her first collegiate victory after she totaled a 235-82 record at Seton Keough High School in Baltimore from 2000-11.
Parker scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half as the Mustangs led by 17 at halftime, 39-22. She totaled her first double double since she had 10 points and 11 rebounds versus York (Pa.) at home on Jan. 19, 2011 before missing the final seven games of the season with a knee injury.
Parker, junior Sam Murray (Reisterstown/St. Paul's School For Girls) and senior Daniela Poss (Brookeville/Good Counsel) combined for 33 of the team's 39 first-half points and were 11-for-30 from the floor while the rest of the team was 5-for-18.
Murray finished with 11 points, six shy of her career-high, while grabbing a career-best nine rebounds. Poss had nine points and seven rebounds.
As a team, Stevenson totaled a school record 67 rebounds as five different players had at least seven.
Freshman Kyarra Harmon (Waldorf/North Point) had seven points and 11 rebounds in her collegiate debut while senior Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) totaled seven points, eight rebounds and four assists in her first game since Feb. 20, 2010 after missing the entire 2010-11 season with a knee injury.
The Mustangs opened the game on a 20-6 run with Parker and Murray combining for 18 points. They would stretch its lead to as many as 19 in the first half and 23 in the second.
Angie Adams led Arcadia (0-1) with 17 points while Krista Hsu had 13 points and nine rebounds. Christie Kershaw had a game-high 15 rebounds for Stevenson's future MAC rival.
The Mustangs travel to Harrisonburg, Virginia this weekend for the EMU Tip-Off Classic where they will take on the host Royals Friday at 8:00 p.m.
