Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Stevenson freshman Samantha Perillo (Wilmington, Del/Wilmington Friends) totaled a school record 46 digs as the Mustangs rallied from a 2-1 deficit on the road in a CAC contest at Mary Washington Saturday at the Anderson Center en route to a 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24, 15-7 victory.
Stevenson (26-2, 6-1 CAC) has now won 14-straight, one shy of the school record of 15 set in 2008 when the team started the season 15-0. It was also just the team's second win in the last six meetings against the Eagles since joining the CAC prior to the 2007 season.
As a team, the Mustangs totaled a season-high 111 digs and had five players who had at least 10 digs, including senior Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) who had 19.
Sophomore Christine Isenberg (Taneytown/Francis Scott Key) had 16 kills and 16 digs while junior Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck) added 17 kills and five total blocks. Sophomore Jessica Gieselman (Wesminster/Winters Mill) totaled 16 digs to go along with seven kills and 48 assists.
Stevenson scored nine consecutive points in the third set to go ahead 11-1 before holding off a Mary Washington (15-13, 4-3 CAC) rally to win by two, 26-24.
In the fifth set, the Mustangs jumped out to an 8-0 before switching sides and prevailing by eight points.
With the win, Stevenson is now 1-1 in five set contests.
Senior Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun) tied a season-high with 10 digs while senior Brooke Gilley (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) tied a season-high with nine kills.
As a team, the Mustangs totaled 60 kills for the second time this season. They had 67 versus in a five-set loss to FDU-Florham at home on September 11.
Stevenson returns home for a non-conference contest with Lancaster Bible inside Owings Mills Gymnasium on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
