Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball junior Daniela Poss (Brookeville/Good Counsel) scored a team-high 11 points, but the Mustangs could not overcome the Hood trio of Dyanna Prater, Allyson Lethbridge and Briana White as the Blazers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 62-45 victory Wednesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
Despite shooting just 8-of-32 from the floor in the first half, Stevenson (0-11, 0-5 CAC) trailed by only five at halftime after forcing 18 Hood turnovers which led to 13 of the Mustangs' 20 points.
Led by a game-high 16 points from White, 12 of which came in the first half, the trio combined for 45 of the Blazers' 62 points. They also went 12-of-14 from the free throw line and had 11 of the team's 14 steals.
Poss finished seven points shy of her career-high set versus Arcadia in the season opener and led 10 scorers for the Mustangs, all of whom had at least one basket. Freshman Molly York (York, Pa./York Christian) did not score, but totaled one rebound, one assist and one steal in seven minutes.
Stevenson forced a season-high 31 turnovers and got 24 points off its bench. Senior Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) finished with seven points and 10 rebounds and now has 656 career rebounds, moving her into a tie for fourth on the school's career rebounding list with Nancy Zentz who also had 656 from 1996-2000.
Lorrie Budd is currently third on the list after totaling 666 rebounds from 2000-04.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturdaywhen it hosts a non-conference contest with Polytechnic (N.Y.) beginning at 2:00 p.m.
