HARRISONBURG, Va. - Stevenson women's
volleyball freshman Jessica Gieselman (Westminster/Winters
Mill) had a strong all-around performance on day two of
the EMU Hampton Inn & Sleep Inn Invitational Saturday as the
Mustangs posted a pair of 3-0 victories over Salem and host Eastern
Mennonite.
Stevenson (4-1) opened the day with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 win
over Salem before dropping Eastern Mennonite 25-16, 25-16,
25-12.
Geiselman totaled four kills, 17 assists, eight service aces,
three digs and three block assists against Salem (1-4) and added
eight kills, 22 assists, three service aces and 11 digs versus
Eastern Mennonite. In five games this season, she is averaging
exactly five services aces with a total of 25.
Geiselman and sophomore Avery Gabbard
(Arnold/Broadneck) were both named to the all-tournament
as the Mustangs finished the two-day tournament with a 3-1 record.
Gabbard totaled nine kills, four service aces and 10 digs versus
Salem before adding nine kills and nine digs against Eastern
Mennonite.
In the win over Salem, junior Alexa Carney
(Towson/Towson) had 18 digs while senior Cassandra
Auguste (Montgomery Village/Watkins Mill) and freshman
Rebecca Pearl
(Hagerstown/South Hagerstown) each had a career-high five
kills. Junior Kristin
Steinnagel (Eldersburg/Liberty) added a career-best
four kills.
Against Eastern Mennonite (1-3), Stevenson totaled two block
solos and 12 block assists. In addition to Geiselman and Gabbard,
Carney had four kills and eight digs.
The Mustangs return home to face local rival McDaniel Wednesday
night at Owings Mills Gymnasium. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
