FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson field hockey junior
Brittany Martin
(Hampstead/Hereford) scored a career-high five points to
help the Mustangs snap a five-game losing streak with a 4-0 CAC
road victory versus Hood at Thomas Athletic Field Monday.
The win was also the fifth of the season for Stevenson (5-6, 1-3
CAC) and its first in conference. Four of the team's five wins this
season have come by shutout.
Martin had a hand in all four goals, finishing the game with one
goal and three assists. Her previous career-high was two points set
with one goal against Richard Stockton and York (Pa.) at the end of
last season.
Senior Katelyn Manocheh
(Timonium/Maryvale Prep) totaled four points on two goals,
including the game-winner with 8:37 remaining in the first
half.
Senior Jennifer Sauers
(Baltimore/Perry Hall) picked up her first goal of the
season with 2:14 left to give the Mustangs a 2-0 halftime lead.
Manocheh and Martin hooked up for the second time just over five
minutes into the second half with Manocheh registering her
team-leading fifth goal of the season, before Martin found the back
of the cage for her third goal with 7:11 to play.
Senior Kara Zimmerman
(Odenton/Arundel) got her 11th start of the season and the
66th of her career, making three saves in 66 minutes before giving
way to sophomore Whitney Pryor
(Elkridge/Long Reach) who made the first appearance of her
career, playing the final 3:48.
Stevenson continues its three-game road trip when it travels to
Salem, Virginia to take on Roanoke Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
