TOWSON, Md. - Led by back-to-back double doubles by sophomore Avery Gabbard (Arnold/Broadneck), the Stevenson women's volleyball team posted consecutive 3-0 victories at the Goucher Family Weekend Tournament Friday, downing Lancaster Bible 265-14, 25-22, 25-17 and Marymount (Va.) 25-21, 25-20, 25-22 at Decker Gymnasium.

Gabbard also added 12 digs for her seventh double double of the season and sixth in her last 10 games.

Playing in her hometown, junior Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) led Stevenson with 15 digs against the Saints (7-14) while adding nine kills, both season-highs.

Freshman Jessica Gieselman (Westminster/Winters Mill) had a career-high 40 assists to go along with four kills and seven digs while senior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) totaled nine kills and two block assists.

As a team, the Mustangs posted a season-high 49 kills and a .312 hitting percentage.

In the opener versus Lancaster Bible, Gabbard totaled 12 kills and 12 digs while Gieselman added six kills, 29 assists and 10 digs. Carney had 14 digs and Mercer had seven kills as Stevenson posted its second win over the Chargers (11-13) in the last four games.

The Mustangs conclude the tournament against FDU-Florham and host Goucher on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Stevenson has already posted victories over both teams this season.
