STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson men's basketball
junior Patrick Lewis (Timonium/Dulaney) scored 15
of his career-high 19 points in the second half, including six on
back-to-back three-pointers to erase a four-point deficit as the
Mustangs snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 70-63 victory over
Gallaudet Wednesday at Student Union Gymnasium.
The win also snapped a 10-game home losing streak for Stevenson
(2-17, 2-8 CAC) dating back to a 64-60 win over the Bison on Feb.
4, 2009. The Mustangs have posted three wins since then, all coming
against Gallaudet.
Lewis, who also added a team-high seven rebounds, was
7-of-10 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Stevenson led by as many as 14 in the first half, 30-16 with
3:48 remaining, before the Bison (4-12, 0-10 CAC) outscored the
Mustangs 33-15 to take their first lead of the game and extending
it to four, 49-45 with 10:12 left in the second.
Lewis then hit back-to-back three-pointers to put Stevenson back
in front to stay at 51-49 with 8:21 to play.
Freshman forward Danny Murphy (Severn/Glen
Burnie) added 12 points and six rebounds while freshman
center Andrew Bishop (Lothian/Southern) finished
with a career-high 11 points.
Junior guard Andy Shelly (York, Pa./West York)
had nine points on three three-pointers and junior guard
Broderick Hill (Bowie/Bishop McNamara) had seven
points and six assists. Sophomore center Keith Holtman
(Baltimore/Eastern) totaled four blocks to increase his
CAC-leading season total to 38.
Brandon McMillan had 21 points to lead Gallaudet, including 16
in the second half, and finished with five three-pointers. Johnny
Jackson and Luther Weedon each added 12 while Danny Kelly totaled
nine points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Stevenson hosts No. 23 St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

the women's basketball team to raise money in the fight against
