STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball
junior forward Kristen Steiner (Fallston/Fallston)
totaled 12 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists
while head coach Chris Ramer picked up win No. 100
for his career as the Mustangs downed Salisbury Wednesday night at
Student Union Gymnasium, 55-53.
The win was the fourth in the last seven for Stevenson (5-10,
3-5 CAC) who also picked up its first win in five
all-time meetings against Salisbury.
The game was the second in-a-row for the Mustangs to come down
to the wire after they lost Monday's game at Wesley by just one
point in overtime. Wednesday's game featured eight ties and three
lead changes, the last of which came after Janay Johnson tied the
game at 53-53 with two free throws with 1:02 remaining.
Junior guard JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose
Christian) would hit the game-winner on a jumper with 35
seconds left after a key offensive rebound by freshman forward
Rayshell Parker (Fort Meade/Meade) gave Stevenson
a second chance.
The Mustangs' leading scorer at 13.3 points per game
this season, Conley led the team in scoring for the 10th time
this season and for the eighth time in the last 11 games with
a game-high 13 points.
Sophomore guard Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St.
Elizabeth) finished the game with nine points and six
assists while Parker had seven points and six rebounds.
Kylie Hall posted a double double with 10 points
and 10 rebounds for the Sea Gulls (5-10, 2-6 CAC) who lost
their ninth-straight. Glen Charlton also had 10 points while
Johnson finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
