FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Stevenson University
women's basketball team made just one field goal attempt and scored
only 10 points in the second half as it concluded the 2008-09
season with a 60-26 loss at Mary Washington Saturday at Goolrick
Gymnasium.
The Mustangs (6-19, 4-12 CAC) trailed by just 10 at halftime,
26-16, after holding the Eagles to its fourth-lowest first
half point total of the season.
Stevenson also held Mary Washington to its lowest point total in
a victory this year, but could not overcome a 1-for-20 performance
from the floor in the second half where it went 8-for-12 from
the free throw line.
The Eagles (20-5, 12-4 CAC) scored 24 points off of 27 Mustang
turnovers and scored 22 points off the bench, led by 13 from Ashley
Warhurst.
Warhurst was one of three players in double figures
for Mary Washington, including Katie Wimmer who was held
to just 11 after totaling a season-high 24 points at Stevenson
on January 24. Jenna McRae added 10.
In her final collegiate game, Mustang senior guard Tara
Galvin (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) had five points
in 27 minutes while making one three-pointer to finish her career
second on the school's all-time list with 136.
Senior guard Ashley Burrell (Baltimore/Institute of
Notre Dame) added two points and two rebounds in her final
contest.
