LANCASTER, Pa. - Despite totaling 67 digs, the
Stevenson women's volleyball team committed 23 attack errors and
nine service errors as it lost its third-straight, dropping a
tightly-contest 27-25, 25-23, 26-24 non-conference contest to
Cabrini Friday night in the opening round of the F&M Scramble
at Franklin & Marshall.
The Mustangs (7-9) were limited by a .130 hitting percentage as
they totaled 23 errors on 131 attempts.
Junior Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) totaled
a game-high 15 kills while freshman Avery Gabbard
(Arnold/Broadneck) had 11 as the duo accounted for 26 of
the team's 40 kills. Gabbard also added a game and career-high 19
digs, posting her fifth double double of the season.
Sophomore Amy Rudolph (North East/Rising Sun)
had 15 digs, three short of her career-high, to go along with 32
assists. Junior Dani Katsampis (New Windsor/Francis Scott
Key) had a season-high 12 digs and has totaled 54 over the
last six games.
Sophomore Alexa Carney (Towson/Towson) was the
fourth Mustang to have at least 10 digs as she finished with 11.
Beth Gillespie had 12 kills to lead the Cavaliers (14-3) while
Courtney Abel had a team-high 12 digs.
Stevenson continues competition at the F&M Scramble with two
games on Saturday, opening against host Franklin & Marshall at
11:00 a.m., before taking on Lebanon Valley at 1:00 p.m.
