STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson University
women's volleyball team used a strong all-around performance to
defeat Notre Dame (Md.) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-15, 25-23
Thursday night at the Student Union Gymnasium on the Stevenson
campus.
All 15 players on the Mustang roster played in the game as
Stevenson (4-0) won its 11th game out of the last 12 and
11th-straight regular season contest.
For the fourth time in as many matches this season, senior
Alana Eller (Ellicott City/Centennial) led the
team in kills with nine and freshman Jen Glock
(Westminster/Westminster) totaled a career-high eight in
her fourth collegiate match while posting a .538 hitting
percentage.
Eller, who was named CAC Co-Player of the Week on
Tuesday, also added a match-high 12 digs, just missing out on
a double double for the second time in the last three matches as
she had nine kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Washington (Md.)
on Saturday.
Junior Brittany Umetin (Havre de Grace/Mt.
Zion) finished with 31 assists and seven digs for the
Mustangs while freshman Paige Norvell (Newark, Del./St.
Elizabeth) and senior Jessica Smiley
(Baltimore/Kenwood) finished with four and three service
aces, respectively.
Sophomore Alex Mercer (Eldersburg/Liberty) was
strong at the net, contributing four kills, two block solos and one
block assist.
Notre Dame (1-2) was limited by errors as it committed 15
attack errors, posting a mere .028 hitting percentage, and 10
reception errors. The Gators were led by Catherine Subrizi who had
eight kills while Christina Kudrna added 14 assists and nine digs.
Katie Murphy also had nine digs.
Stevenson will travel to Philadelphia
Biblical University on Saturday for the Crimson Eagle Classic
where it will face Ramapo College at 10:30 a.m., before taking on
Cedar Crest at 12:30 p.m. The Mustangs handed Cedar Crest a
25-14, 25-9, 25-10 defeat last week en route to three-straight
wins to open the season.
