Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Junior Sarah Bauer
(Baltimore/Perry Hall) picked up her second goal in as
many days as the Stevenson University field hockey team picked up
its first win of the season on Saturday, 2-0 over local rival
Goucher in the Black Eyed Susan Tournament held at Stevenson's
Caves Complex.
With two goals in two games in the tournament, Bauer was named
to the all-tournament team along with senior Cat Connelly
(Fallston/Fallston) who picked up an assist on Bauer's
goal just 5:55 into the contest.
The Mustangs (1-1) also went 1-1 in last year's Black Eyed Susan
Tournament, losing to Bridgewater 2-0 before defeating Wells, 4-0.
Saturday's game was the first of two meetings this season for
Stevenson against the Gophers (0-2) at Caves Complex as the two are
scheduled to play again on Saturday, October 18.
Despite outshooting Goucher 17-4, the Mustangs would not score
again until lthere was ess than seven minutes remaining in the game
when junior Margaret Wolfe (Baltimore/Perry Hall)
scored her first goal of the season with 6:52 left, matching her
total from a year ago.
In goal for Stevenson, sophomore Kara Zimmerman
(Odenton/Arundel) stopped three of the four shots she
faced while her counterpart Micki Manheimer made seven saves over
the final 63 minutes after replacing starter Chloe Dircks.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when they travel to
St. Mary's (Md.) in the CAC opener for both teams. Game time is at
4:00 p.m.
