BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Colleen Kegerreis scored 16
of her 19 points in the second half, matching Stevenson's team
total, as the Division II Huskies outscored the Mustangs 47-16 en
route to posting an 83-44 victory Monday night at Nelson Field
House.
Leading by just one, 17-16 with 10:06 to play in the first
half, the Huskies (5-2) would outscore Stevenson 42-14 to take a
29-point advantage with 11:23 left in the second half.
Kegerreis had 13 points over that span, including 10 of
Bloomsburg's first 13 points to start the second half. Kelsey
Gallagher added 11 points in the outburst.
Gallagher led four Huskies in double figures with a game-high 20
points to go along with seven assists and five rebounds while
Kegerreis finished with 19 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for
her fifth consecutive double double.
Kelly Joyce had 14 points and Lauren Healey added 10.
Playing less than 84 miles from her hometown, senior
guard Tara Galvin (Lititz, Pa./Manheim
Township) hit four of her first five shots and scored nine
of Stevenson's first 12 points to lead the Mustangs to a 12-10
advantage less than six minutes into the game.
Galvin finished the game with a team-high 12 points while
sophomore forward Denita Brown (Laurel/Montrose
Christian) and freshman guard Joy Bettis
(Laurel/Montrose Christian) each had seven. Sophomore
forward Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) had
a team-high six rebounds.
However, an 18-5 run by the Huskies gave Bloomsburg its first
double digit lead of the game, 28-17 with 6:43 remaining in
the first half.
The Huskies scored 16 of their 36 first half points in the paint
en route to an eight-point halftime lead and held a 32-8 edge in
points in the paint in the game. They also scored 26 points off of
19 Stevenson turnovers, including 17 in the second half.
The 19 turnovers were one short of being a season-low for the
Mustangs.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday when it faces Austin
College in Austin, Texas. Game time is at 4:00 p.m., Eastern.
