BALTIMORE, Md. - Sophomore Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) totaled a double double with a team-high 15 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome a season-high 38 turnovers as Stevenson fell at Notre Dame (Md.), 68-57 in the championship game of the Notre Dame Tip-off Tournament Saturday afternoon at the MBK Complex.

The Gators (3-0), who are off to their best start in the last three years, were led by tournament MVP Gloria Broady who had a game-high 23 points to go along with nine steals and seven rebounds.

Broady was joined on the all-tournament team by Ronda Shelly and Kiara Young.

For Stevenson (1-3), sophomore JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) was named to the all-tournament team after totaling 19 points and six rebounds over the two-day tournament.

Notre Dame scored 28 points off of Stevenson's 36 turnovers to overcome its 5-of-21 shooting from three-point range and 19-of-30 from the free throw line. The Gators had 16 points off 20 Mustang turnovers in the first half.

Broady had nine points and seven steals in the first half while Young had 12 points. Six of Young's points came during an 8-2 Gator run that erased the Mustangs largest lead of the game at six points, and tied the game at 13-13 with 11:22 remaining in the first half.

With the game tied at 21-21, Notre Dame posted another 8-2 run to take a 29-23 lead en route to a 29-25 halftime advantage.

The Gators then scored 10 of the first 12 points of the second half to take its largest lead at 12 points, 39-27 with 16:46 to play.

Stevenson then cut the deficit to four with an 8-0 run, but could not get any closer. Sophomore Denita Brown (Laurel/Montrose Christian) finished five points and career-high 15 rebounds, 10 of which came in the second half.

The Mustangs will now have an 11-day layoff before they return to action on December 3 in their CAC opener at home versus St. Mary's (Md.). Game time is at 6:00 p.m., and is part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
